TAROM and El Al enhance connectivity with new codeshare agreement. Romania’s national airline, TAROM, and Israel’s flag carrier, El Al, have entered into a codeshare partnership to bolster air travel between Bucharest and Tel Aviv. Starting April 1, 2025, the two airlines will collectively operate 18 weekly flights on this route, providing passengers with increased flexibility and convenience.

Under this agreement, El Al’s flight code (LY) will be added to TAROM-operated flights, allowing customers to book seats on either airline through their preferred carrier’s channels. Tickets for these joint flights became available for purchase on March 19, 2025, via both airlines’ websites and authorized travel agents.

Frequent flyers stand to benefit as well; members of El Al’s Matmid Frequent Flyer Program can now earn points when traveling to Bucharest on these codeshare flights.

The partnership was formalized at a signing ceremony held at El Al’s headquarters in Ben Gurion Airport, attended by El Al CEO Dina Ben Tal Ganancia, TAROM CEO Costin Iordache, and Romania’s Ambassador to Israel, Radu Ioanid.

This collaboration is part of El Al’s broader strategy to expand its global network through alliances with leading international airlines, aiming to enhance connectivity and offer passengers a more seamless travel experience.

The TAROM-El Al codeshare agreement is expected to strengthen economic and tourism ties between Romania and Israel, providing travelers with more options and fostering closer connections between the two nations.
