Ryanair introduces two new routes from Sofia

Ryanair has unveiled its largest-ever summer schedule for Sofia in 2025, featuring over 350 weekly flights across 43 international routes, including new destinations to Frankfurt-Hahn and Pisa. This expansion is supported by four based aircraft, representing a $400 million investment, and is expected to serve 2.9 million passengers annually, marking an 8% growth. The airline’s commitment also supports over 2,500 indirect jobs in the region.

However, Ryanair has expressed concerns over increased airport charges in Bulgaria, which are hindering the country’s aviation sector recovery compared to other European nations that are reducing access costs to boost air traffic. The airline urges the Bulgarian government to intervene and make airports more competitive. Should access costs be reduced, Ryanair proposes a $1 billion investment plan that could double traffic to 6 million passengers annually, increase based aircraft to ten, establish a second base in Burgas, and create over 180 new highly-paid aviation jobs, totaling 300 positions.

To celebrate the expanded schedule and new routes, Ryanair has launched a three-day seat sale with fares starting from €21.99.
