Air Serbia Announces Direct Flights to Tbilisi

Air Serbia announces direct flights to Tbilisi this summer, marking the first-ever scheduled air service between the two cities. Operations will commence on June 15, with flights running three times per week—on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays—using the airline’s Airbus A320-family aircraft.

This new route will make Tbilisi Air Serbia’s 80th destination from Belgrade and its 84th overall in its scheduled network. Tickets are now available for purchase on the airline’s official website, where additional flight details can also be found.

Discussions regarding air connectivity between Serbia and Georgia have been ongoing since 2019. Based on indirect traffic volumes, Tbilisi ranks among the top ten busiest unserved European destinations from Belgrade. Air Serbia has previously highlighted Belgrade as a strong connecting hub for passengers traveling from countries such as Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia to Europe.

Tbilisi International Airport, which handled 4.75 million passengers last year, is currently served by only a few European legacy carriers, including Aegean Airlines, Air France, Austrian Airlines, Belavia, British Airways, LOT Polish Airlines, and Turkish Airlines. Georgian Airways remains the largest operator at the airport, offering a limited selection of European routes.

As reported by EX-YU Aviation News last week, Air Serbia’s route announcement had been anticipated for the upcoming summer season. Further expansion is expected, with the airline likely to introduce another new destination in the weeks following the start of summer operations. Earlier, the carrier confirmed new routes from Belgrade to Mykonos, Alghero, and Florence for this season, while services to Ibiza are still pending slot approvals. Due to operational constraints at Ibiza Airport, the airline has been allocated early morning arrival and departure slots.
