Wizz Air is eliminating cash payments on board its aircraft, with all purchases to be made using cards and contactless methods such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Android Pay, and Google Pay.

When the Change Takes Effect

The change will come into effect on April 1, 2025.

Wizz Air is also expanding its payment options by accepting Revolut cards in addition to VISA and Mastercard, both credit and debit.

“With cashless payments, Wizz Air passengers will be able to shop easily without needing to carry cash, simplifying and speeding up the onboard service process. This fast and convenient system ensures a hassle-free shopping experience, allowing passengers to enjoy their journey without worrying about cash or last-minute currency exchanges. Moving to cashless transactions also naturally improves hygiene, as crew members no longer have to handle cash, contributing to a cleaner and safer travel environment,” Wizz Air stated.

Passengers Can Purchase a Prepaid Voucher

Passengers can also purchase a prepaid voucher through the Wizz Air mobile app “for an enhanced onboard experience, ensuring absolute transaction security and eliminating any unexpected payment issues.”

The maximum combined amount allowed for onboard purchases per passenger will be €150. For transactions of €50 or more, a boarding pass will be required.

“The implementation of cashless payments not only streamlines operations but also allows our crew to focus more on delivering exceptional service rather than handling cash transactions,” Wizz Air stated.

“This ultimately leads to a more efficient and enjoyable experience for our passengers,” said Michael Delehant, Senior Chief Commercial and Operations Officer at Wizz Air, as quoted in the statement.
