Wizz Air has confirmed the reopening of its operational base at Târgu Mureș International Airport, supported by the allocation of a modern Airbus A320neo aircraft. This step strengthens the airline’s footprint in Romania, with its Romanian-based fleet set to reach 39 aircraft during the winter season.

The Târgu Mureș airport holds a symbolic role for the carrier, as it was the first Romanian airport from which Wizz Air operated its inaugural flight back in 2006.

Starting 29 March 2026, the airline will expand its network with nine new direct routes, enhancing connectivity between Târgu Mureș and major European destinations. The new services will link the city to:

  • Brussels Charleroi (Belgium)
  • Larnaca (Cyprus)
  • Paris Beauvais (France)
  • Dortmund and Memmingen (Germany)
  • Milan Bergamo and Rome Fiumicino (Italy)
  • Basel (Switzerland)
  • London Luton (United Kingdom)

These flights will complement the existing route to Budapest (Hungary), bringing the total number of routes operated from Târgu Mureș to ten.

Currently, the airline operates 219 routes from 14 Romanian airports, connecting passengers with 82 destinations across 27 countries, consolidating its position as a leading low-cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe.
