Wizz Air has announced the launch of two long-awaited Italian destinations from Iași International Airport for the summer 2026 season: Milan Malpensa and Pisa, according to a press release sent to the editorial office.
The route to Milan Malpensa will start on May 20, with flights operating on Wednesdays and Sundays. The second destination, Pisa, will be available from May 23, with flights every Tuesday and Saturday.
In addition, four new routes have been introduced from the capital of the Republic of Moldova. New direct connections from Chișinău to Cologne (Germany) and Basel Mulhouse (France) will begin in May, followed by routes to Rhodes (Greece) and Rimini (Italy) in June.
“We continue to expand Wizz Air’s operations in Romania with the introduction of two new routes from Iași. Starting this spring, passengers will have direct access to key destinations in Italy, further improving regional connectivity. The routes to Milan Malpensa and Pisa, which will be inaugurated in May, reflect our ongoing focus on strengthening our network and providing affordable travel options for our customers—not only for visiting friends and family, but also for exciting holiday trips,” said Anastasia Novak, Corporate & Sustainability Communications Manager at Wizz Air, in the statement.
Since beginning operations in Romania in 2006, Wizz Air has steadily increased its investments in the country, recognizing it as a strategic market. The airline currently offers 236 routes from 14 Romanian airports, connecting passengers to 82 destinations across 27 countries.
Over its 19 years of activity in Romania, Wizz Air has established nine operational bases and now employs more than 1,600 people, the company said.
