South Korean low-cost carrier T’Way Air is modifying its seasonal service between Seoul and Zagreb, eliminating the technical stop in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on the outbound flight. This adjustment is made possible by replacing the initially planned Airbus A330-300 with the longer-range A330-200.
The stop in Bishkek was previously necessary due to T’Way Air’s inability to fly over Russian airspace, which extended the flight duration. In 2024, passengers had to disembark in the Kyrgyz capital, despite no tickets being sold for the segments between Seoul and Bishkek or Bishkek and Zagreb. The return flight from Zagreb to Seoul, which operated nonstop last year, will continue to do so in 2025. The airline managed to operate the inbound leg without a stop in 2024 using the A330-300, benefiting from shorter eastbound flight times and favorable seasonal winds.
However, the switch to the A330-200 will result in a significant capacity reduction. The new aircraft configuration will cut over 100 seats per flight, leading to a total capacity reduction of 12,322 seats for the 2025 summer season—from the initially planned 42,334 to 30,012. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 19,322 seats. In 2024, T’Way Air carried 40,258 passengers on the route, achieving an average cabin load factor of 81.7% throughout the season. This year, the airline will operate a one-off service on April 25 before resuming its regular three-weekly schedule from June 10 to October 25.
The A330-200 aircraft deployed on the Zagreb route are leased from Korean Air and still retain the cabin configuration of their previous operator. They feature 18 business class seats and 228 economy class seats. While the aircraft are equipped with personal in-flight entertainment screens, T’Way Air does not activate them. Business class passengers benefit from priority check-in, a 40-kilogram checked baggage allowance, two complimentary meals, a pillow, and a blanket. Economy class travelers receive 15 kilograms of checked luggage and two complimentary meals, while additional amenities such as blankets, pillows, and beverages are available for purchase onboard.
