Ryanair, one of the largest low-cost airlines in Europe, is expanding its operations in Romania by launching five new international routes from Aurel Vlaicu International Airport – Băneasa. This strategic move comes amid rising demand for affordable flights from the capital and marks a new chapter in the revitalization of one of Bucharest’s oldest airports, according to boardingpass.ro.
New Destinations Available Starting This Fall
Beginning in late October and early November 2025, passengers will be able to fly directly from Băneasa to the following European cities:
- Bari (Italy) – from October 31 | 2 flights per week
- Barcelona (Girona, Spain) – from October 31 | 3 flights per week
- Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden (Germany) – from October 31 | 2 flights per week
- Memmingen (Germany) – from October 30 | 4 flights per week
- Kraków (Poland) – from November 1 | 2 flights per week
This new flight network offers affordable fares, direct routes, and reduced transit times for tourists, members of the Romanian diaspora, and business travelers. In particular, the routes to Memmingen and Girona (Barcelona) are considered highly attractive due to their tourism potential and large Romanian communities in those areas.
Băneasa Airport Back in Business
This expansion strengthens Băneasa Airport’s return to the network of major European cities after a period of modernization and limited activity. Located closer to the city center than Henri Coandă Airport (Otopeni), Băneasa offers a faster and more efficient alternative for passengers in Bucharest.
Company representatives emphasized that the investment in Băneasa routes reflects Ryanair’s commitment to the Romanian market and its desire to meet the needs of passengers seeking quick, direct flights with budget-friendly fares.
With these new routes, travelers can plan weekend getaways, family vacations, or visits to loved ones with less stress and fewer layovers. Băneasa Airport thus becomes a key hub for fast travel from Bucharest to Europe.
