According to Rynek Lotniczy, the first of the thirteen brand-new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft ordered by LOT Polish Airlines was supposed to arrive in Warsaw in November. However, the delivery has been postponed until December.

In the coming years, the national carrier’s fleet will expand significantly. LOT will gradually receive new narrow-body aircraft—most notably the Airbus A220, which the airline has ordered to strengthen its regional services. The French manufacturer’s aircraft will replace the Embraer fleet.

The medium-haul fleet will also grow, as LOT Polish Airlines is set to receive additional Boeing 737 MAX 8 narrow-body jets. The airline currently operates 18 of these aircraft, flying regular services to destinations such as Astana, Dubai, Cairo, London, Reykjavík, Riyadh, Tashkent, Tel Aviv, Tenerife, and soon also Malaga, Porto, and Almaty. The American manufacturer’s new-generation aircraft were expected to increase by one unit in November.

“The first of the thirteen new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will join our fleet this month,” wrote Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, in his November editorial for the in-flight magazine Kaleidoscope. However, this did not happen, and the delivery of the aircraft registered SP-LYA has been delayed, according to the airline’s press office. The aircraft, which completed another maintenance flight on November 25, is now scheduled for delivery this month.
