The Verdi trade union has announced a 24-hour strike at 11 German airports on March 10, leading airlines to cancel flights from the affected airports to Budapest.

Operations will come to a halt for the entire day on Monday at all major airports, including Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Hanover, Bremen, Hamburg, Berlin-Brandenburg, and Leipzig/Halle.

The Verdi union has called on public sector and ground handling workers to strike between 00:00 and 23:59. Additionally, a gathering will take place in Frankfurt.

The strike is driven by a wage dispute with the federal government and local authorities. Employers have yet to submit an offer and have so far refused to meet union demands.

Employee representatives are demanding an 8% wage increase, or at least an additional €350 per month, higher shift allowances, and three extra days off. The next round of negotiations is scheduled for mid-March.

In recent weeks, strikes have already taken place at airports in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, and Munich, leading to the cancellation of flights to Budapest.
