Wizz Air is strengthening its presence on the Adriatic coast, placing increasing confidence in the Rimini–San Marino Federico Fellini Airport. The low-cost carrier – which operates a fleet of 249 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft – has unveiled new strategic moves that expand its network from the Rimini hub.

Following the already active service to Tirana (Albania) and the recently announced Rimini–Budapest route, the airline is now doubling down by adding direct connections to Katowice (Poland) and Sofia (Bulgaria).

Launch Dates, Frequencies, and Fares

The new Rimini–Katowice service will debut on 8 June, operating twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, with fares starting from €24.99.

The Rimini–Sofia route will begin even earlier, on 31 March, offering three weekly flightsTuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays – also starting at €24.99.

Tickets for both routes are already on sale via the airline’s website and the official Wizz Air app.

Boosting Connectivity Between Italy and Central–Eastern Europe

Wizz Air, which carried over 19 million passengers in Italy this year, is deepening its partnership with Airiminum as part of a broader strategy to strengthen links between Italy and Central–Eastern Europe.

The flights will be operated using Airbus A321neo-family aircraft – models known for lower fuel consumption, improved efficiency, and enhanced onboard comfort. This reflects Wizz Air’s commitment to providing affordable fares without compromising on the travel experience.

The new services are expected to broaden travel options for Italian passengers while also stimulating two-way tourism flows to the Riviera Romagnola, a destination that continues to attract strong interest from Central and Eastern European markets.

The announcement comes just days after the unveiling of the new Rimini–Budapest route, which will also start on 8 June with three weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays) and fares from €31.99.
