This autumn, the low-cost airline will open a base at the Slovak capital’s airport with two Airbus A321neo aircraft, from where it will operate flights on 13 new routes.

Wizz Air Malta will station two Airbus A321neo aircraft at M. R. Štefánik International Airport.

In addition to the previously announced Bucharest route launching at the end of October, the airline will open 12 more routes from Bratislava between November and mid-December.

From the Slovak capital, passengers will be able to fly with the airline to Athens, Alicante, Barcelona, Málaga, Basel, Lamezia Terme, Naples, Palermo, Niš, Plovdiv, Varna, and Oslo.

Including these new destinations, Wizz Air will now offer flights from the airport to 17 destinations in 10 countries.

On the announced routes, the airline will provide an annual seat capacity of one million, which represents a significant expansion for Bratislava Airport. The airport currently has relatively few scheduled flights, mainly due to its proximity to Vienna, and expects passenger traffic of only around two million this year.

Ryanair is also present at the airport with 16 routes, but there is minimal overlap with Wizz Air’s newly announced destinations.

The new flights could offer a favorable alternative to Vienna and even Budapest, especially for passengers from northwestern Hungary.
